On Sunday, March 19, Mohamed Barre Mohamud, the Minister of Youth and Sports, met with his Egyptian counterpart Ashraf Sobhy on the sidelines of the council of Arab ministers of youth and sports meetings in Saudi Arabia.
The two officials discussed ways to cooperate in the areas of youth and sports activities, including the participation of Somali youth in the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership program.
The program, which is implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to provide leadership training to young people from across the continent.
Additionally, both ministers agreed to prepare a cooperation protocol that includes all the items of cooperation, from programs and projects implemented throughout the year to exchanging expertise and cultures between Egyptian and Somali youth. They also discussed opportunities for Somali youth to learn from Egypt’s expertise in improving sports infrastructure.
This meeting marks an important step towards strengthening ties between the two countries and promoting greater collaboration in the field of youth and sports.
